I am an artist, designer and art educator living and working in Sonoma County, California.
I began this work in 2013, combining my fiber sculpture with wearable designs and ceramics.
These pieces are inspired by natural phenomena great and small from lunar cycles to the life cycle. I see the archway as an opening, a place to go in that is cave-like and deep where there are many transcendent possibilities. I grew up raising sheep and riding horses on the Colorado Front Range, so my relationship to the materials I use is nostalgic and respectful - I only use hair and wool that is humane.
I use processes that are repetitive and comforting, like binding, felting and weaving. I make every piece by hand and work in limited editions released each spring and fall annually.
